Simulated embroidered patches are ideal for bold logos that need the look of embroidery without a fully stitched background. Using cut fabric with embroidered borders and details, they create a clean, dimensional finish perfect for hats, jackets, and team apparel.

Simulated embroidered patches can be customized by thread colour, border colour, fabric colour, shape, size, and placement. The fabric is precision laser cut and then combined with machine embroidery, allowing designs to range from clean and simple to more complex shapes and details.
How do we do it?
Simulated embroidery is a hybrid between appliqué and direct embroidery. Instead of building the entire design out of embroidery stitches, we use appliqué material for the larger areas of the design and direct embroidery for the outlines, details, and finishing.
This gives us the dimensional look of embroidered patches while reducing the amount of stitching needed for larger designs. The appliqué pieces are cut to shape, positioned on the garment, and then stitched into place on our in-house embroidery machines.

Simulated embroidered patches have a minimum order quantity of 12 pieces.
Wait—is that actually a patch?
Kind of! We custom-cut a piece of fabric and appliqué it directly onto the hat, then embroider the border and logo details through everything together. You get the crisp, finished look of a patch without actually sewing a separate finished patch onto the garment.
Why not just fill the whole thing with embroidery?
Because sometimes more thread isn't better. Using fabric for the large solid areas eliminates thousands of unnecessary stitches, keeping the front of the hat lighter and cleaner while still giving you that substantial embroidered look.
When does this technique really shine?
Six-panel hats, camo and heavily patterned fabrics. The appliqué creates a clean space for your logo so it doesn't fight with a centre seam or disappear into the pattern underneath. Then we embroider the details on top for a really polished, custom finish.
How long does this take?
3-4 Weeks. Production timelines begin once both your Quote and Artwork have been approved. Any delays in approvals may affect your final completion date—so the sooner everything is confirmed, the sooner we can get started!
